SolForce SS’19: Capstone Collection development

My Capstone Collection entitled ‘SolForce SS’19’ is an extension of my intertwining souls and creativity. My collection is inspired by the sun’s ceaseless ability to bring warmth and enact a sense of peace among any viewer as it rises and falls, creating a sense of inner peace. In a world where things are constantly changing, the sun rising and setting is one of the few things that remains constant, and I want to celebrate that. I want my collection to imbue my innate romance with the sun upon any viewer.

The term ‘soul force’ was used by M.K Gahndi during the movement to transform India’s society through peace, and by Dr. Martin Luther King Junior in his “I Have A Dream” speech to describe his nonviolent philosophy. I have chosen the term ‘Soul Force’ to describe my constant search for inner peace, meeting this world and everything in it with love and empathy.

SolForce SS’19 exemplifies my love for the perfect mix of casual and elegant, reflecting my energy from time spent throughout California and Tulum, Mexico. I had never experienced such places where day transitioned to night so seamlessly, and I wanted my designs to reflect the ability to move from day to night without having to change what you’re wearing. The thematic fluidity of transitioning between day and night also grew from a love for house music. The transitioning between the beats and sounds creates a hypnotic energy, captivating the body and the mind to vibe like it’s never vibed before!

My continuous strive for soulful elegance and delicate moments is shown through my use of luxurious silk charmeuse, creating purposeful asymmetric silhouettes as well as a balmy color palette. These colors include a variation of the warm colors seen from the sun, such as a pale yellow, a golden dusty orange and a deep, burnt orange. These pieces are met with a causal twist, adding in classical fabrics and textures such as blue and white distressed denim and white leather. SolForce SS’19 also features classic casual silhouettes such as graphic tees. The graphic tee features a disposable image taken at the end of the summer in Malibu at sunset.

SolForce SS’19 passionately honors the warmth of the sun and the constant strive for peace as the wearer transitions from day-to-night with elegance and spirit. Enjoy!

Solforce SS’19 - Color & Fabric Story

This collection features the same warm colors that I experience when looking at the sunrise or sunset. I wanted the soft and warm feeling that I get when in the sun to translate into my colors and fabrics. The rust, gold & champagne colored silk charmeuse work in contrast of the blue and white structured denim and lambskin leather. while all fabrics are luxurious, I wanted to intertwine my casual but elegant aesthetic through the lush characteristics of the charmeuse and the casual characteristics of the denim & leather.
